Does the right hair accessory really make a difference?
The short answer? Yes it does.
If you’re happy to stick around a little longer, I’ll explain why :)
The “right” hair accessory isn’t the same for everyone. Out of the various styles available, not all are a perfect fit for every woman and working out which will be your best fit takes a little thought.
Any hairdresser will be able to make most accessories work in your hair, but spending a little time being honest about what is going to feel most comfortable for you is worth it.
Let’s imagine you have fine hair and don’t often wear accessories. Maybe you pick up a hair comb with a lot of weighty detail to it, try it in your hair for a few seconds to see how it looks and decide to buy it. All good, right?
So how about wearing it all day? Combs are tricky things at times and there’s a little bit of magic you can work with them but, if you’re not used to wearing accessories normally, do you want to be worrying about a hair piece falling out as you walk down the aisle?
I’m guessing not. That doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice the detail you love though. Keep in mind that you might need to distribute the weight differently to make it feel more comfortable in your hair. This could mean asking someone to create similar details on a hair clip (the ones that snap shut), as it will sit firmer in your hair. Or perhaps spreading the details across in the form of a vine, which you could also attach on to hair clips.
If you wanted to make sure that something is going to sit firmly in your hair, a tiara or hair band might be your best option. You could still keep the detail, but it won’t slip or move about during the day and you’ll be less inclined to keep checking it. If a tiara is the way forward for you, a thinner band will pinch a little less than the thicker ones. Once you’ve got your tiara, spend some time wearing it to get used to it sitting on your head - any excuse to add a bit of glamour to the chores and daily life!
This is just one small example, of course, but acknowledging what you are used to doing with your hair is one of the first steps in working out the type of accessory that is going to present you with less of a challenge on your wedding day.
Because comfort is EVERYTHING! When you feel comfortable, your confidence shines through and makes you sparkle that little bit brighter.
