Making Daisy Chains

I want to take you back to my primary school days…the last term would be upon us and the sun would be shining. Wearing our blue and white summer uniform, we’d spill out on to the school fields to run off excess energy or find shade under the big tree that sat near the school building.

We’d roll down our white school socks - the ones with the little flowery patterns made from little holes to give a lacy effect - or even take them off altogether to wiggle our toes in the fresh green grass. The smell of the cut grass and finding buttercups to hold under each other’s chin to see who really loved butter (do your kids still do that? Mine does!). And then picking the daisies from the abundant supply on the field, stringing them together to make a little flower crown or bracelet for my best friend. I remember sitting happily with my friends, the grass making indents in our skin where we sat for so long, delicately stringing those daisies together to see who could make the longest chain without breaking their tiny, delicate stems.

Those little white flowers with their textured centres, smiling up from the blades of grass, were a sign that Spring had arrived and everything, for me at least, felt clearer and lighter.

The inspiration behind the Daisy Chain necklace comes from those days, where simplicity and happiness reigned supreme. Its delicate silver branches are a nod to the blades of grass, while the Swarovski crystals poking through in shades of green are a reminder of the Springtime colours. As one of the simpler designs, I wanted to add some variety through colours so created three versions to choose from.

The first is the classic Daisy White, with white pearl flowers and beautiful warm yellow Swarovski crystals at the centre. A classic colour combination that will look stylish with any outfit.

The second colour variation is Lilac Rose, which features lilac and pale pink pearls with clear Swarovski centres. The greens in this necklace are slightly darker, giving more depth.

The third design, and possibly my favourite colour combination, is Poppy Peach, featuring warm peach and red coral tones which remind me of summer.

Why I think you’ll love this design

The silver details give the Daisy Chain a less formal look; it would look beautiful with a wedding dress or occasion wear but could equally be worn to dress up any outfit. Sitting just around the base of your neck without feeling restrictive, Daisy Chain is lightweight and the pops of colour are sure to brighten up any rainy day.
