Real Bride Inspiration - Taking Inspiration With Sabrina
While I’ve dialled back my social media use recently, I’ll always be grateful for the connections and friendships it’s brought me. Instagram particularly was my happy place, and it’s where I’ve connected with some absolutely lovely brides, who have remained friends ever since.
One of those wonderful women was Sabrina, an elegant, sweet and funny Idahoan based in London and planning her wedding to Ben.
We connected over Sabrina’s creative Instagram reels, which mixed humour with much needed honesty about wedding planning life.
I love naming my headpieces after people and there was one particular vine that needed a name. She was made from antique copper wire, with large rose quartz flowers and daintier bright fuchsia ones. I asked for name suggestions and Sabrina commented: “Sabrina?”.
It was the perfect fit!
Sabrina got in touch to talk about having some accessories made, and we had a lovely video call to talk through her ideas. I think video calls or meeting in person gives a different dimension to someone - for me, when I’m designing, they fill in the pieces of a puzzle - I notice little mannerisms and get to hear more anecdotes and stories that really help to shape the designs I create.
Sabrina had fallen in love with the details on her namesake vine, but wanted to create something smaller for her four bridesmaids. Using the vine as a starting point, I drew out four different pin designs for her, with one like a small vine, giving her some options to work from.
Sabrina chose sets of pins where the branches sat vertically on the pin and I set to work creating them for her.
Each pin featured two rose quartz gemstone flowers with two smaller fuchsia crystal flowers, a delicate branch of matte beige seed beads and an opalescent rhinestone - all details that featured in the original vine but arranged in a completely different way. My call with Sabrina helped me to see that she needed something more delicate for her bridesmaids than the original vine, but whatever I made still needed to have an impact. She wanted her bridesmaids to shine and I can’t think of a sweeter gift.
I loved working with Sabrina on these, and love the fact that we’ve kept in touch and remained friends ever since. She and Ben are getting ready for the next chapter of their lives, and I wish them the very best of luck, and lots of love, for the journey ahead.
Thank you Sabrina for sharing these photos of your beautiful bridesmaids’ hair, and for the lovely comments on your experience of the bespoke journey - it was a pleasure creating these for you!
