Real Bride Inspiration | Using Your Bridal Bouquet As Inspiration For Your Headpiece With Claire
There are so many things that could inspire your bespoke hair accessory, but one of my favourite starting points is your bridal bouquet.
And with a little inspiration from my Flora comb, my bride, Claire, did just that.
A few subtle colour changes completely changed this design to fit perfectly with Claire’s colour scheme and I hope she inspires you to think about incorporating your wedding colours into your headpiece too!
There’s no doubt which accessory has been top of my brides’ lists this year when it comes to bespoke pieces: The Flora comb.
Claire was my first bride this year to adapt the design and I absolutely love how it turned out!
In fact, after seeing Claire’s day unfold through the pictures she sent me, I don’t think any other design I’d have come up with would have fit her day as perfectly as this one.
Claire’s wedding colours were much richer than the ones in the original design, so the pastel tones weren’t going to cut it! Her bouquet gave me a lot to work with, with its deep pinks, rich greens and pops of purple, and her bridesmaid dresses in two shades of purple were going to be a big feature too.
We were originally going to keep the large rose quartz flowers, but a quick mock up with Amethyst in their place was enough to convince Claire to go all in with the purple (and I love how much it really changed up the comb! I’m thinking of creating a version in Aquamarine too as an inspiration piece - watch this space!).
I know how hard it is to visualise things, so when there’s a big decision for you to make or you’re on the fence about anything, I try to create parts of the design for you to see how things fit together.
Claire chose bright fuchsia and Amethyst Preciosa crystals and we swapped the pale green opal crystals in the original design for deep emerald, which complimented Claire’s colour scheme perfectly. To balance out the rich colour scheme, I kept the pearl flowers white to enhance the beautiful jewel tone colours she’d chosen
As a little gift for her bridesmaids, Claire had ordered each of them a single pin, designed to match her comb.
I LOVE transforming your headpiece into something smaller for your bridesmaids! It’s like each of them carries a little piece of you with them, and together, they become part of you.
For the pins, I took one of the silver-grey fern-like branches and added a single flower in each of the colours on Claire’s comb, These were easily adapted for Claire’s bridesmaid with shorter hair, by attaching them to a clip rather than a pin, so it would sit securely in her hair.
(You could do this with details from any of my designs - a great idea if you have shorter hair!)
I was amazed how well Claire’s accessories matched her bouquet - even though I’d seen pictures of her flowers, I was so pleased to see how well everything coordinated and worked together!
Claire and Dan, your wedding day looked absolutely beautiful and I’m so happy to have been able to play a small part in it.
I hope Claire’s story has given you some ideas for your bespoke headpiece! If you’d like some help making yours a reality, I’m here, ready to make it happen :)
