The Best Bridal Hair Accessories For Redheads

I love red hair, from strawberry blonde to deep auburn and everything in between. But when it comes to pairing hair accessories with your ruby hues, it can be a challenge to find something that doesn’t clash.

It was after speaking with my first redhead bride, Ros, that I realised this was an issue. Ros’ hair was a lovely fiery ginger, and she chose silver for her accessory as she was worried that gold would look slightly off against her hair.

I personally think that the metal colour you choose for your accessory mostly comes down to personal preference; if you usually lean towards silver jewellery, you’ll more than likely be drawn to a silver headpiece, regardless of your hair colour.

There are lots of options to consider, and it comes down to personal preference whether you’d like the metal colour to stand out or blend in with your hair.

Each metal option I’ve listed below could be paired with chic neutrals, pops of colour or a combination of both, and this is a way of including your personality in your headpiece.

Let’s dive in!

The Unsung Hero - Copper

Copper actually looks quite natural in rich, bright and vibrant red shades. It’s rose gold’s warmer counterpart and doesn’t have the pink undertone that can clash with your red hair.

You could pair copper with pearls in white or ivory, depending on your preference, or add in splashes of colour, such as olive or emerald greens, deep browns or even pastel tones. Blue also works well with both the wire colour and your hair colour, so if you’re looking to incorporate your something blue into your headpiece, this is your sign to do so!

Antique copper - An organic choice

Antique copper is a darker shade of copper and is almost brown, giving it a natural, organic feel. It works well with all shades of red hair, standing out in lighter shades and staying subtle in darker reds with brown hues.

It’s one of my favourite wires to work with as it gives the illusion of branches running through your hair and it pairs well with all colours - think woodland flowers and you’ve got yourself the perfect headpiece!

Silver - A Striking Contrast

Silver will stand out beautifully against red hair and can be worn by anyone, if it’s your preference. If you’d like to champion this metal colour, opt for a statement centrepiece like Ros did with this leaf detail, and add in pops of colour or keep it simple with pearls or delicate seed beads.

Gold - Perfect for Warmer undertones

If you have golden, strawberry blonde hair, gold may feel like a more natural choice for you. Again, if you’re more drawn to gold jewellery, be led by that as you know what suits you best.

Pair your gold headpiece with colours that compliment your gorgeous natural colour or keep it simple with ivory pearls or delicate seed bead details and a few clear crystals.

Adding Colour

If you want to add a pop of colour to your accessory, there are many ways to do this.

For the brave and bold, ditch the neutrals and go all out with colourful crystals, coloured pearls and seed beads. Jewel tones that are highly saturated will look beautiful against your hair.

Or you can easily add in small touches here and there with delicate colourful seed bead branches or a scattering of coloured crystals, gemstones or coloured pearls.
